What you can design on a credential

Colour, logo, texts in four languages, details and groups: what the swiyu Wallet shows, and what makes a good design.

A credential in the swiyu Wallet carries your branding. The wallet sets a frame for this. This article shows what you define within it, and what matters.

Colour

Each credential has a card colour. The wallet shows it as one surface and adds its own subtle shading, so that all credentials in the wallet fit together. For phones in dark mode, you can set a second colour.

A gradient is possible, but appears only on VeriGate’s own pages, for example the collection page and emails. The wallet shows the card colour.

Your logo appears at the top right. The wallet shows it in one colour, white or black, whichever is easier to read on the card colour. So it is the shape that counts, not the logo’s colours.

The wallet chooses the text and logo colour itself. The preview in the console warns if the contrast is too low.

Name and description, in four languages

The card has two lines: the credential’s name and a description. You enter both in German, French, Italian and English. The wallet shows the phone’s language.

The name appears as you write it. In the description, you can insert details that differ for each person, for example “Zone B · BE 482 117”. That makes the credential recognisable at a glance in the wallet.

Details and groups

The details, such as name, zone or validity, appear in the wallet’s detail view. For each one, you set the label, order and type:

Groups add headings to the detail view, so that even a credential with many details stays clear. An image can be a photo, a logo or a signature. Details that need special protection, such as a photo, you mark as confidential.

“Valid from” and “Valid until” are more than text: they become the credential’s actual validity. The wallet shows an expired credential as expired, and every check rejects it.

Preview, draft, publish

While you design, the console shows the credential as it appears in the wallet, in light and dark, with the detail view alongside. You save changes as a draft. They become visible only when you publish.

Three tips

  1. A calm, rather dark card colour: white text on it is easy to read on any phone.
  2. A short name that says what the credential is: “Resident parking permit”, not “Authorisation No. 4 under the regulations”.
  3. Only the details someone wants to check. Every additional detail is one that has to be protected.
